4th-Grade Math is Cool

On March 22, the 4th grade Math Is Cool team traveled to Wenatchee to participate in the 4th Grade Math Is Cool Competition. Our 30-member team was comprised of twenty-two 4th graders and eight 3rd graders. There, they competed with 300 kids from schools across our state. They ended up taking 3rd place in our division, comprised of 13 schools. Three of our students placed in the top 10 scores out of 147 students competing:  Brittany Klett (4th) took 1st, Rory Miller (4th) took 8th place, and Kawhi Bolauro (4th) took 10th. Brittany Klett also received the high point award for the highest score from our school.

4th grade students began preparing for this competition back in November 2023. They practiced twice a week, working on units of study to build a solid Math foundation and to develop critical thinking and problem solving, essential parts of the competition. This year, Mrs. Ingram began coaching 3rd graders in January so we could start building an advanced Math track for our students. She worked with 27 students; eight were later selected to join the 4th grade Math Is Cool team at the competition. They were a vital part of the team's overall success.

Since the team placed so well, they have been invited to compete in the Math Masters competition in Moses Lake on May 18th.  One team will continue to practice until then.

Congratulations

to our remarkable Math Is Cool team for their outstanding performance, dedication, and unwavering spirit of excellence!
