Their passion for education and service goes far beyond expectations. Whether working behind the scenes or directly in the classroom, they lead with integrity, kindness, and a true heart for making a difference.
We were also proud to celebrate alongside educators and staff from across the region at a wonderful event in Pateros, honoring all Okanogan County Excellence Award winners. On March 27th, East Omak Elementary hosted its annual school spelling bee—and it was an exciting showcase of talent, perseverance, and school pride!
After classroom competitions in 14 classes, our top spellers from 3rd–5th grade advanced to the school-wide bee, where they competed through 13 intense rounds and a spell-off.

🥉 Leilani Sanchez-Escoto (3rd grade) – 3rd place

Families joined us from 5:00–6:30 PM to travel from classroom to classroom, exploring a wide range of student-created exhibits. Our 5th graders did an outstanding job showcasing their learning, creativity, and hard work. From thoughtful experiments to engaging presentations, it was clear how much pride students took in their projects!

The East Omak Math Is Cool team celebrated a big success on Friday, March 13, at the Math Is Cool competition held at Foothills Middle School in Wenatchee. The East Omak team earned 2nd place in the E Division team competition.
The team included 15 fourth graders and 7 third graders, competing against students from nine different schools with a total of 113 participants in the E Division.
Students worked diligently for several months to prepare for the competition. Team members practiced two days a week after school and completed challenging homework assignments designed to strengthen their math reasoning and problem-solving skills.
The fourth-grade team was coached by Melissa Omer, while CJ Hendrickson coached the third-grade team.
East Omak students also had an impressive showing in the individual competition.
· Pradipta Adhikari, a fourth grader, earned the Best in School Award for achieving the highest individual score on his team. He also placed 3rd overall out of 113 contestants in the E Division.
· Paxton Couture, a third grader, placed 6th overall.
· Willow Diaz, a fourth grader, placed 9th overall.
East Omak is incredibly proud of the team and the dedication students showed in preparing for the Math Is Cool competition. Their success reflects the commitment of students, families, and the school’s hardworking teachers to building a strong and rigorous mathematics program.
