Good morning, Pioneers,
This weekend, the Omak Girls wrestling team went over to Quincy to wrestle in the regional tournament. Old Mac walked in with 11 girls wrestling; everyone wrestled to the best of their ability and put points up on the board. This year is the official first year of the girls' wrestling program, and the girls' walked away first at regionals, scoring 127 points with bro and second at 109. As of right now, the standings are three of our girls are in the state tournament with four alternates. Michel pinned the returning state champion in the first round, but Chapa took second to the state champion at 170. Then, finally, Jurney took third over her own teammate with a 3-0 win. The alternates that took fourth as of right now are Lahelee , Michelle, Kinsey Christoph, Leandra Agee, and BobbiJo Dick. Only three girls did not make it into that place. Both Mackenzie Hoffman and Sage Buhrig went two and out, and Val Hammer, as a first-year wrestler, took fifth. The amount of effort and work the girls put in this year is shown by how well they did this weekend. As a coach, I am beyond proud of these kids and their capability; they have shown to work hard and battle through all things.
