PIONEER WRESTLERS SHINE AT STATE!
The Omak Pioneer Boys Wrestling Team traveled to Tacoma on February 21-22 to battle it out at the State Tournament, and they did not disappoint! Twelve wrestlers made the trip, with eleven competing and leaving it all on the mat. The team secured a Top 10 finish, placing 8th overall!
TWO STATE CHAMPIONS!
Big congratulations to Darrell Nanpuya and Jessie Garcia, who both wrestled their way to the top and claimed state titles! Darrell, a three-time state champ, moved to 138 lbs, and Jessie made good on their pact by winning it all at 144 lbs! Their determination and grit paid off in a BIG way.
🔹 10 of our wrestlers notched at least one win
🔹 3 seniors led the charge—the rest will be back, hungry for more next year!
🔹 Hard work, heart, and hustle—these wrestlers gave it their all!
Shoutout to our girls' team too!
They brought the fight to the mat, with 5 of 7 placing at state! Leandra battled her way to the finals, and we couldn't be prouder of her performance. These girls are tough, talented, and inspiring!
Wrestling is more than just a sport—it's a test of discipline, strength, and resilience. The lessons learned on the mat last a lifetime, and we encourage anyone to give it a shot!
Next time you see these wrestlers, give them a high-five and tell them congrats! They earned it!
THANK YOU for all your support this season! GO PIONEERS!

🎉 GOOD MORNING PIONEERS! 🎉
What an INCREDIBLE weekend at the WIAA State Tournament! 🚨 Our Omak girls put on a performance for the ages, and trust me, you do NOT want to miss the highlights! 🙌
👉 First up, Nattalyn Cariker came in UNRANKED and pulled off a nail-biting victory with only 10 SECONDS left on the clock, defeating Maeve Belsby 9-8! 🔥 She made it to the blood round, just one spot away from placing— but hold up, next year’s gonna be LEGENDARY if she keeps this momentum!
👉 Lahalee Michel faced the NUMBER ONE seed in the semifinals and fought like a WARRIOR. After a tough loss, she didn’t quit—she battled her way to 5th place! Watch out, because next year she’s coming for the TOP spot! 💥
👉 Kinsey Christoph had a tough draw, but she fought back and pinned a girl from Okanogan who had beaten her all year to take 3rd place overall. Talk about a comeback! 🔥💪
👉 Bobbijo Dick, UNSEEDED, shocked the competition and proved EVERYONE wrong! She had a super close match with the #1 seed but ended up 5th. She NEVER gave up! 🏅
👉 Akiera Marchand, a FRESHMAN, made it to state! Even though she went 0-2, just getting to the tournament as a rookie is HUGE! 👏
👉 Isabella Chapa battled her heart out after switching weight classes and took 3rd overall, after losing to the girl who ended up winning the entire tournament. She’s a fighter! 🥉
👉 And last but NOT least, Leandra Agee made it to the FINALS! A rematch of districts and she fought hard for the top spot, but ended up with a well-deserved 2nd place. Next year, she’s bringing it all home! 🥈
THE TEAM took 5th place, just ONE spot away from bringing home a TROPHY! 🏆 The girls lost to the champions of the tournament—PROVING that they are right there with the best of the best!
Omak Girls Wrestling is on FIRE, and we’re just getting started. The future is looking BRIGHT! 🌟 As their coach, I couldn’t be prouder of everything they’ve accomplished this season! Let's get ready to take it all next year! 🚀🔥 #PioneerPride #OmakGirlsWrestling #StateChampsInTheMaking #GoPioneers

TOLO DANCE

A quick wrestling report on last night.
Your Pioneers wrestlers traveled to Cascade last night to fight for the league title. JV and girls started the night off with some quality wins.
Varsity boys went into the Cascade dual prepared to take the CTL title. The boys had already defeated Chelan twice and Cascade once. Last night was Cascades senior night, so we prepared for a pumped-up opponent. We honestly thought they would have kept it closer. Cascade is working hard to build their program and their coaches are doing a good job. But the Pioneers were fired up and let it loose on the mat. The Cascade dual was followed by a dual with Cle-Elum. Omak beat Cle Elum 53-30.
The Cascade league dual started at 138 pounds with Ryder Abrahamson. Ryder came out and took care of business quickly with a first round pin. After Ryder’s pin, we were off to the races with 8 straight wins followed by a forfeit for our 106, Victor Aragon. Logan Cate was giving Cascade’s senior all he could handle before being caught and put to his back after he was winning the match. This was by far the toughest we have wrestled all year, which is promising as post season starts next week.
Below are the match results:
138- Ryder Abrahamson (Omak) won by fall over Rony Nieto (:59)
144- Jessie Garcia (Omak) won by fall over Jeffry Palacios (3:59)
150- Darrell Nanpuya (Omak) won by technical fall over Tristan Sharpe (22-4)
157- Diego Garcia (Omak) won by fall over Frank Rosario (1:41)
165- Quinn Phillips (Omak) won by fall over Jonah Bowles (3:34)
175- Easton Jensen (Omak) won by fall over Jonah Peake (2:30)
190- Juan Duran (Omak) won by decision over Daniel Guerrero (4-3)
215- Jacob Monaco (Omak) won by major decision over Talen Johnson (9-0)
285- Talon Cate (Omak) won by fall over Isaac Avila Tinoco (:33)
106- Victor Aragon (Omak) received the forfeit
113- Cruz Martinez received the forfeit
120- Abraham Gonzalez won by fall over Dewy Best (Omak) (1:51)
126- Damian Sandoval won by fall over Logan Cate (Omak) (3:09)
132- Evan Ragsdale won by technical fall over Randy Trevino (Omak) (18-2)
The final dual score was 54-23 Omak over Cascade. With that victory, your Omak Pioneer Boys Wrestlers are the 2024-25 CTL Champions!
The count is zero.
Daily doubles start next week in preparation for the post season.
