A quick wrestling report on last night.
Your Pioneers wrestlers traveled to Cascade last night to fight for the league title. JV and girls started the night off with some quality wins.
Varsity boys went into the Cascade dual prepared to take the CTL title. The boys had already defeated Chelan twice and Cascade once. Last night was Cascades senior night, so we prepared for a pumped-up opponent. We honestly thought they would have kept it closer. Cascade is working hard to build their program and their coaches are doing a good job. But the Pioneers were fired up and let it loose on the mat. The Cascade dual was followed by a dual with Cle-Elum. Omak beat Cle Elum 53-30.
The Cascade league dual started at 138 pounds with Ryder Abrahamson. Ryder came out and took care of business quickly with a first round pin. After Ryder’s pin, we were off to the races with 8 straight wins followed by a forfeit for our 106, Victor Aragon. Logan Cate was giving Cascade’s senior all he could handle before being caught and put to his back after he was winning the match. This was by far the toughest we have wrestled all year, which is promising as post season starts next week.
Below are the match results:
138- Ryder Abrahamson (Omak) won by fall over Rony Nieto (:59)
144- Jessie Garcia (Omak) won by fall over Jeffry Palacios (3:59)
150- Darrell Nanpuya (Omak) won by technical fall over Tristan Sharpe (22-4)
157- Diego Garcia (Omak) won by fall over Frank Rosario (1:41)
165- Quinn Phillips (Omak) won by fall over Jonah Bowles (3:34)
175- Easton Jensen (Omak) won by fall over Jonah Peake (2:30)
190- Juan Duran (Omak) won by decision over Daniel Guerrero (4-3)
215- Jacob Monaco (Omak) won by major decision over Talen Johnson (9-0)
285- Talon Cate (Omak) won by fall over Isaac Avila Tinoco (:33)
106- Victor Aragon (Omak) received the forfeit
113- Cruz Martinez received the forfeit
120- Abraham Gonzalez won by fall over Dewy Best (Omak) (1:51)
126- Damian Sandoval won by fall over Logan Cate (Omak) (3:09)
132- Evan Ragsdale won by technical fall over Randy Trevino (Omak) (18-2)
The final dual score was 54-23 Omak over Cascade. With that victory, your Omak Pioneer Boys Wrestlers are the 2024-25 CTL Champions!
The count is zero.
Daily doubles start next week in preparation for the post season.

Hey, Pioneer fans!
Apologies for the late update, but the Omak Girls Wrestling team has been on fire this past week! 🔥
Jan 21st: The girls took on the entire CWB league in the first-ever CTL vs. CWB dual. Teaming up with Chelan, Cascade, and Cashmere, they battled Okanogan, Liberty Bell, Tonasket, Lake Roosevelt, and Oroville. It was a tough fight, but the CWB took the win, 48-21.
Jan 22nd: Senior Night was a showdown against Cascade, Chelan, and Lake Roosevelt. While we don’t have any senior girls this year, our team showed up strong and supported the senior boys on their big night!
Lady Husky Tournament (Othello): With just five wrestlers, we knew the odds were against us—but all five made it to Day 2! Despite injuries and illness, they pushed through and finished 35th overall. 💪
This team continues to show heart, grit, and determination. Stay tuned for more updates—these girls are just getting started!

CANCELED =- Wrestling Matches and Practices.

Good Morning, Sports Fans!
I hope this message finds you well! I’m excited to share some highlights from our Girls' Wrestling team’s outstanding performances over the holiday break.
December 21 – M2 Mallet Tournament at Rogers High School
Our Omak Girls Wrestling team traveled to Rogers High School to compete in the M2 Mallet Tournament, a valuable opportunity to face strong competition from Spokane-area schools—many of which we expect to see at the state tournament. The team displayed remarkable determination and skill, finishing in an impressive 5th place. While narrowly edged out by Cheney in the final match, our athletes demonstrated resilience and sportsmanship throughout.
December 28 – Grizzly Den Classic
Next, the team competed in the Grizzly Den Classic. While the tournament originally anticipated participation from 31 teams, only 10 teams ultimately competed. Despite the unexpected turnout, our wrestlers rose to the occasion, showcasing their talent and determination. Their hard work paid off, as they secured an outstanding 1st place finish!
January 3-4 – Gut Check Tournament in Kent
The team then traveled to Kent for the highly competitive Gut Check Tournament. Facing some of the toughest opponents in the region, our wrestlers battled fiercely and represented Omak with pride. Out of 76 teams, our girls finished 24th, an exceptional achievement considering we competed with only nine wrestlers. Their grit and determination continue to amaze and inspire.
Looking Ahead
This week, the team is headed to Kelso High School to compete in the Braided 64 Tournament. We are excited to see them continue their journey and build on the successes of the holiday season.
Thank you for your continued support of Omak Girls Wrestling. Let’s cheer on our team as they take on new challenges and strive for greatness!
