Highlands High School is thrilled to announce an exciting new opportunity for students to dive into the rich cultural heritage of the region! In partnership with the CCT Okanogan Language Program, students will now be learning nsəlxcin (Salish) with the renowned instructor Margaret Timentwa. Twice a week, students will immerse themselves in the language, with additional lessons seamlessly woven into other subjects, providing a dynamic and engaging way to explore and embrace the vibrant traditions of the Okanogan people. Get ready to embark on a unique educational journey that connects past and present!

Omak School District Cares About the Safety of Their Students
On October 2, 2024, Shumway Road was closed due to an emergency water leak that affected the regular bus route. In response, the Omak School District swiftly made emergency bus route changes. Our dedicated staff went to the rescheduled bus stop to ensure that all students arrived home safely. We are incredibly proud of our team’s quick actions and unwavering commitment to student safety. Thank you to our staff and community for your understanding and support during this situation!

William Boers – 3rd place (18:23), tied his Personal Best!
Trenton Werner – 6th place (19:20), crushed his Personal Best by 31 seconds!
Jose Cabello-Preciado – 7th place (19:21), his best time this season by 27 seconds!
Caden Arnold – 8th place (19:24), beat his Personal Best by 12 seconds!
Walter Sweowat – 23rd place (21:34), set a new Personal Best by almost a minute!
Ruben Cosino – 33rd place (23:32), incredible performance for his first race after just 8 days of practice!

Sage Buhrig – 2nd place (22:10), season-best by 1:07!
Syreni Sandoval – 3rd place (22:30), beat her season-best by 54 seconds!
Ruby Freese – 4th place (23:25), smashed her Personal Best by 2:04!!
Christine Zandell – 6th place (23:52), improved her Personal Best by 9 seconds!
Ava Freese – 8th place (24:48), second-best time of the season!

🏃♀️🏃♂️ Pioneer Cross Country Shines at Leavenworth! 🏅
Our incredible Pioneer Cross Country team hit the trails in Leavenworth this past Saturday, competing against 24 other teams on a challenging 2.8-mile course! The hilly terrain didn’t slow them down—our athletes pushed through and delivered some amazing performances on the scenic Leavenworth ski trails. 🌲💪
The Lady Pioneers ran an especially tight and exciting race! With just 1 minute and 35 seconds separating our top 5 runners, they secured an impressive 4th place team finish out of 15 teams, just 3 points shy of third! 🎉
👏 Special shout-out to Ruby Freese for having the race of the day—she crushed her fastest average mile pace of the season despite the tough hills. Way to go, Ruby! 🔥
